The circus art, as a common language without borders and one of the most open artistic forms, has always been a participant in and contributor to China’s international cultural exchanges. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of CPC, China Acrobats Association (CAA) holds this photo exhibition titled China’s Circus and Diplomacy. This exhibition showcases the remarkable accomplishments made by China’s circus in the diplomatic field during three historical periods, including the exploring period of the PRC (1949-1978), the reforming period (1978-2012) and the prime period (2012-). Over the years, China’s circus has made outstanding contributions to China’s diplomacy by actively participating in diplomatic cultural activities. It plays an important role in bettering China’s international relations, ensuring a good international environment for development, expanding non-governmental exchanges and friendship with other countries and establishing a good national image. In addition, through taking an active part in international competitions, China’s circus has demonstrated the soft power of Chinese culture and raised its international influence and voices. We take this exhibition not only as a souvenir to CPC’s centennial anniversary, but also an opportunity to inspire all our peers in China’s circus, in the sense of pride and mission, to make concerted efforts for a better future. With the advantages of circus in both artistry and industrial strength, China’s circus artists will definitely make new and even greater contributions toward China’s cause of international cultural exchanges.
